Matt Cook, Founder and Principal of Scale That Works
Executive bio

Built from direct leadership of large, complex operating environments.

Matt Cook is the Founder and Principal of Scale That Works, an operating advisory practice focused on helping leaders move from strategy to measurable execution. His work centers on simplifying complexity, reducing variation, strengthening accountability, identifying practical workflow and automation leverage, and building operating models that can scale.

Across a 30-year operating career, Matt has led large, service-intensive environments spanning healthcare operations, centralized services, fulfillment, workforce management, transformation, automation-enabled operations, and field execution. His leadership experience includes national-scale healthcare operations across 50 U.S. States and Puerto Rico, enterprise teams of 5,000+ team members, high-volume prescription operations, and centralized service models supporting hundreds of millions of customer and patient contacts.

Matt brings a practical operator’s lens to advisory work. He helps leaders identify where performance is breaking down, where manual work or variation is creating drag, where automation may create leverage, and what operating systems are required to sustain improvement after the initial work is complete.

30% cost-to-fill reduction achieved year over year
Why this experience matters now

Automation and improvement work best when they start with the work itself.

Organizations are under pressure to improve performance, reduce manual work, and understand where AI or automation can create real value. Matt’s experience helps leaders start with the work itself: workflows, handoffs, exceptions, controls, capacity, and accountability. That makes automation opportunities more grounded, practical, and connected to operating performance.

How Matt works

Practical support for leaders who need clarity, traction, and scale.

The work is designed to help leaders understand what is happening inside the operation and create the structure required to improve it.

Clarify the operating problem

Separate symptoms from root causes and identify what is actually limiting performance.

Simplify complexity

Translate fragmented work, unclear ownership, and competing priorities into a practical operating plan.

Build execution systems

Create cadence, scorecards, role clarity, decision rights, and management routines that make performance visible.

Scale what works

Help teams replicate effective practices, reduce variation, and sustain improvement across teams or locations.
